How can you change your environment to improve your odds in life?
Reading time: 1 minute
Imagine this: you have a pot and you fill it with water and place it on the stove. The water starts to boil when it reaches 100 Celsius. Now you insert one potato and one egg and observe the results. After around 10 minutes the egg becomes hard and much harder to break, while the potato, with time passing becomes softer and softer.
Do you recognize yourself in the potato or in the egg?
What are we trying to say here is this: the same exact environment can create very different outcomes from people, depending on the character and skills you have. If you are aware of your strength and weaknesses you are able to play in the environments where those will make you thrive and not the other way around.
Albert Einstein said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
So, being a good player means working hard to win the game that everyone else is playing, while being a great player means creating your own game where your strengths are enhances and your weaknesses avoided!
It is good to be a potato in the game where being soft is a strength, but it is better to be an egg in the environment where being hard is favorable.
We'll leave you with a question: how can you make your environment favorable for your unique characteristics?
